Seth's story in brief
Seth is the town smith, and his heart is in the novels he writes after the forge goes cold. His short horror piece The Mysterious Case of the Missing Miner did well enough to give him hope, and of the readers he knows only Edwin dismissed it. He is now writing 100 Years of Chaos, a first-person account of the rise and fall of the Marquez Dynasty, which early readers call gripping and sharp about society.
He credits an old friend, a man of the cloth, with teaching him what the written word can do, and explains himself through a dream. In it he finds a page hidden in a pillow that sends him to the First Holy Site, finds the site, watches the hope it gave him rot, and then finds the dying body of his younger self under his bed. He is the town's note-taker in other stories too. He writes down Quinn's teasing of Amadeus, records Saul's account of the Golden City, puts Rosa into verse and compiles My Time with Jaeger. Hammer Burn, Burnished Iron and Craftsmanship cover the day job.
