Fahd's story in brief
Fahd commands black-clad desert cavalry and reads a battlefield through his eagle. His story opens in a sandstorm, with the bird circling overhead and a rebel ambush about to be turned back on the ambushers thanks to his warning. After the fight the mayor offered him a fortune. Fahd closed a hand around the man's wrist and refused, saying his riders had not come for gold or to be remembered.
Off the field the city's children adore him, and Forrest the lumberjack is among his most devoted listeners. The children believe he owns a magic box of stories for a thousand nights. He tells them they are the stories his mother told at his bedside. The eagle works to a code. Three slow circles mean it has found supplies, a short sharp whistle sends it out to scout, and a steep dive marks where the enemy waits. The signal for attack is one he has never told anyone. Sandstorm, Eagle Wings and Dune General replay that opening scene as skills.
