Kingshot Almanach

Kingshot alliance ranks and what each one may do

A Kingshot alliance has six ranks, R0 through R5. Promotion and demotion sit with R3 and above, removing a member needs R4, and in both cases you can only act on someone at least one rank below you. Everything else that members argue about, from opening Bear Hunt to replacing a leader who disappeared, is listed below with the rank that holds it.

Kingshot Alliance Members screen with the R5 pinned at the top and the R4 and R3 groups below, each showing its own label and member count
The member list groups people by rank and carries the alliance's own labels: R4 commanders 0/10 and R3 above 19 m 4/46, with Online: 6/94 at the top. Writing the threshold into the group name is how leaders publish it, so nobody has to ask what R3 costs.

Two things people expect to find here are missing on purpose. Century Games does not publish how many R4 slots an alliance has, and it does not publish the member cap either. Fan wikis list alliance tech steps that raise the cap without naming the number they start from, so any total you read is someone's arithmetic rather than a documented value.

What R4 is for

R4 is not a reward for power, it is a shift rota. The events that have to be opened by hand are all R4 rights, and each one has a window: Bear Hunt every two days, Viking Vengeance every two weeks, Swordland registration inside its two-day phase, Tri-Alliance sign-up on the Wednesday and Thursday, Sanctuary slots before the phase closes. An alliance with one officer in one time zone misses those windows on a regular basis, which shows up as a quiet week nobody can explain.

The practical shape most leaders land on is one officer per large time zone, each owning a named event rather than a vague promise to help. The duties page lays the week out that way, and the promotion message in the template builder announces what the new officer is allowed to do, which heads off half the questions.

Promotions without drama

Kingshot Change Rank dialog asking to confirm adjusting a member's rank, with the member list dimmed behind it
The confirmation reads Confirm adjusting member's rank to R2?. It is a single tap with no cost attached, and the ranks it offers stop one step below your own.

Promotions cause more friction than kicks, because they look like favouritism from the outside. The fix leaders keep arriving at is to publish the thresholds before anyone hits them: a power number for R3, a power number for R2, and a rule that reaching the number means the rank follows without asking. Gaming with Big Green runs exactly this and announces the numbers at reset, raising them as the server grows, so nobody has to petition for a rank.

For R4 the rule cannot be power, because the job is attendance. Big Nasty Gaming makes the same point from the other direction: pick officers for reliability and trust, not for the size of their army, since an officer who is never online during a registration window is worse than no officer at all.

Replacing a leader who stopped playing

This is the question that sends most alliances hunting through forums, and the game has a documented answer. Once the R5 has been absent for three days, an R4 can request the leadership. Once they have been absent for five days, any member can. The transfer costs 200 gems.

There is no automatic handover before those thresholds, and an R5 cannot leave the alliance without passing the leadership on first, so waiting for them to quit is not a plan. Two things are worth doing before you start the request. Contact them outside the game if you have any way to, because someone who is on holiday for a week comes back to a demotion they never agreed to. Then say in alliance chat that it is happening and why, which the builder has a message for. An alliance that watches the leadership change hands in silence assumes a coup, whatever the actual reason was.

When someone has to go

Removing a member needs R4 and only reaches ranks below you, which means an R4 cannot remove another R4 and no one can remove the R5. Beyond the mechanics, the process experienced leaders describe is the same one every time: talk to the person first, bring a second officer in as a witness if it continues, give a warning that names the behaviour, and only then remove them. Big Nasty Gaming adds the part that is easy to skip, which is to stop carrying it afterwards. An officer team that keeps relitigating an old kick teaches everyone else to take sides.

Kicking during an event has a cost the game enforces, so check the calendar before you act. Ranking points earned in Bear Hunt are cleared when someone leaves the alliance, Alliance Brawl only counts members who were present when matchmaking locked on Sunday 23:00 UTC, and a Kingdom of Power switch resets points. Removing someone mid-event takes their contribution with them.

Frequently asked questions

How many ranks does a Kingshot alliance have?

Six: R0, R1, R2, R3, R4 and R5. R5 is the leader, R4 are the officers who can open events and manage the territory, and R1 to R3 are member ranks.

How do I replace an alliance leader who stopped playing?

After the R5 has been absent for three days, an R4 can request the leadership. After five days, any member can. The transfer costs 200 gems.

Can an R5 just leave the alliance?

No. The leadership has to be handed over first, which is also why an alliance with an absent R5 needs the replacement process rather than waiting for them to quit.

How many R4 officers can an alliance have?

Century Games does not publish a number, and the figures that circulate in fan wikis do not agree, so this page does not state one. What is documented is what an R4 may do, which is the list above.

Does promoting someone cost anything?

No. The only rank change with a price attached is taking over from an absent leader, which costs 200 gems.
