Ava's story in brief
By day Ava is a street portraitist nobody can name, who captures a couple in a handful of strokes and never takes a sitting after dark. By morning a governor's Town Center carries her signature under two crossed guns, one loaded blue and one green, next to the words Art comes first. Justice follows. Everyone admires the painting. The few who know what it means understand that the governor of that town is in trouble.
That night a paint bomb goes off among his soldiers, the pretty liquid eats into their armor, and a girl with her hair in two buns drops in front of him with a gun in each hand. He wakes in the busiest square painted as a clown, surrounded by graffiti that lists how he robbed the town for years. Ava watches from the crowd. She has lost count of the officials she has left like that, and the story closes by asking whether the next one could be you. Color Bomb, Corruption Bomb and Disguise Pigment turn the guns and the paint into skills.
