Governor Gear is the one gear set that is not tied to a hero. Its stats apply to every march you send, which is a different kind of value from hero gear, and Artisan's Vision is the material that upgrades it.

That reach is why I rank Governor Gear upgrades above most single-hero gear when the two compete for an event window. A hero's gear helps when that hero fights. Governor Gear helps in every rally, every garrison and every field march, including the ones led by heroes you swapped in last week.

Artisan's Vision comes mainly through event shops, Hall of Governors rewards and governor gear packs, and the amounts are small enough that the piece you upgrade has to be chosen before the event starts.

Early game

Governor Gear opens later than hero gear, so early Artisan's Vision from events just waits. Learn the pieces and note that Steel Edge, around day 10, is the first window that scores it.

Mid game

The second Hall of Governors window, roughly days 20 to 27, is the moment to spend. Choose the piece, save every Vision until the window opens, then upgrade in one session so the points land together.

Late game
