Vivian's story in brief
Vivian is the only child of the Ostervilts, financiers for ten generations who are said to control more than half the assets of their town. She had every toy and attendant and very little of her parents. She skipped her lessons for the markets and alleys, where she met a tall, golden-haired boy who boasted that he would do something great for his family. She told him she only planned to become a famous bounty hunter.
The boy disappeared on the day a City Council member's estate burned while the crowd stood and watched. Vivian left home as soon as she came of age. Years later she met him again in the street. He was a Lafayette, a family exiled from the Council and spoken of at the Ostervilt dinner table as troublemakers, and he told her it was best they never speak again. She still wonders whether that was the last goodbye. The family fortune is in her skill names, with Gilded Barrage, Priceless Shot, Trap of Greed and Money Driven.
